History

The Vienna Insurance Group developed from a successful expansion of the Austrian insurance company Wiener Städtische, the roots of which date back to 1824.

With its entry into the former Czechoslovakia in 1990, the Vienna Insurance Group began its expansion into Central and Eastern Europe. Since that time, the Vienna Insurance Group has successfully expanded its presence in Central and Eastern Europe.
