Yana Weber, Group IT

“I started working at VIG in early 2010 as a system architect in Group IT. I then went on to head the system architecture team, and since 2012 I’ve also been deputy head of Group IT. We are responsible for consolidating IT infrastructure within the VIG. I grew up in Kazakhstan and studied industrial electronics in Russia. After finishing my degree I worked as a software developer on a host of different projects in CEE. Finally I moved to Austria to take up a position as a senior consultant for an international consulting company, where I was involved in a number of software development and application management projects. I wanted to broaden my professional horizons and that was the main reason for deciding to join the VIG. My job has become a vocation – the exciting, dynamic atmosphere is really motivating and encourages you to do your best.”

Christian Walter, VIG International Processes & Methods

“I joined the VIG in May 2010 and set about building up a unit at Group IT dedicated to coordinating, bundling and giving a professional edge to specialist and methods-based IT-related activities which involve collaboration between departments and Group companies. When our unit became a separate department – International Processes and Methods – after a short but very demanding lead-up phase, it showed that we had been moving in the right direction. Helping to build up such an excellent department was an unforgettable experience. Our task is to harmonise the business processes on a group-level, and we collaborate with over 100 colleagues outside Austria using a matrix structure. The VIG lets you – and encourages you – to work independently and take full responsibility for everything you do. And I know I can always count on the support and expertise of my line managers.”

VIG department leads the way in quality management

The International Processes and Methods Department has received a seal of approval for quality. It is the one and only department of its kind  on the entire Austrian insurance market to be awarded such a quality seal. In the technical jargon, the department is now ISO 9001:2015-compliant. What was the process behind this? Following a nine-month start-up phase, International Processes and Methods secured much-sought-after certification from TÜV Austria, the leading quality watchdog when it comes to process management. This guarantees that the Vienna Insurance Group’s processes are results-driven and efficiency-oriented.
