Ingrid Riedl, VIG Finance and Accounting

“When I became Head of Accounting at Sun Alliance in 1999, I never thought that one day I would be going on business trips to Albania. The sale of Sun Alliance was announced just after I started working there. The merger with Donau Versicherung was completed in 2000, and I was involved in integrating the companies’ accounting systems. Like several other functions, Donau’s accounting was handled by Wiener Städtische. I’ve been with VIG Accounting since the separation of VIG Holding and Wiener Städtische. As the Group accounting team leader, I’m responsible for the Austrian market, as well as preparing the consolidated financial statements for Wiener Städtische Wechselseitige Versicherungsverein and providing expert support on all of the Group companies’ SAP projects.

Consolidating the intra-Group reinsurance contracts is another fascinating part of my job. I’m often on the road visiting Group companies and at the moment I’m spending lots of time in Albania and Turkey. After having worked mainly for small and medium-sized businesses, it’s a great feeling to be part of a large, stable group. I get an insight into various parts of VIG in the course of my business trips. Accounting is all about details, but it’s also important not to lose sight of the big picture. And meeting and working closely with colleagues from different countries is a really enjoyable aspect of the projects I work on.”

Bernhard Reisecker, VIG Asset Risk Management:

“I joined VIG in 2010 and I was involved in setting up the Asset Risk Management department. I had been part of the Group before that, working in asset risk management at s Versicherung. Our work here focuses mainly on capital market investments. We keep track of movements in the capital markets and analyse the resulting risks. VIG is just as diverse as my range of responsibilities. Diversity isn’t just a buzzword here, it’s part of our day-to-day operations. I like working in such a multicultural environment – in my ten-person team alone we have staff from Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Germany."
